I find it a distinct honor to keep alive the tradition of our Holocaust remembrance which I started in 2017. We had an amazing gentlemen come speak about his experiences. Thank you, Joseph Gosler for sharing your story with our Town.

Joseph shared his harrowing and poignant journey as a "hidden child" in the occupied Netherlands during World War II.

Town Supervisor Ed Lachterman emphasized, "We are teaching about the evils of the Holocaust to today’s generation and it is so important that they have this knowledge and ensure that we never forget."

Joseph Gosler’s memoir, Searching for Home, chronicles his life as a Jewish child hidden in the Netherlands to escape Nazi persecution. After the war, he faced the difficult challenge of reuniting with parents he did not recognize who were traumatized by the conflict.

The ceremony can be watched on the Town's website and YouTube channel.
